I am not ashamed to admit that I do recycle gifts.Hmmm well dahil hindi na kasing dami ang regalo ko ngayong pasko because I am not in corporate anymore, I used to recycle gifts. Hayan past tense na.

This is the time of the year. Most probably your office is on half day or you’ve already taken a leave of absence to start preps for the big Christmas celebration. So now you’ve received almost, if not all your Christmas goodies from family. friends and colleaugue; and it’s time to sort out the garbage from the keepers. Garbage goes to other people who’d appreciate it more, while the keepers, obviously, you get to keep.

More or less the range of gifts do not change year on year. A few trends here and there. But through the years, some gifts have always been there for one reason or another. These are my Top 10 Recycled Gifts of all time (in no particular order)…

1. Calendars

You name it, they give it. Desk calendars, Cardboard standing ones, wallet sized ones, and more. I only need at least one for my desk. Too much clutter is just baaaah. I just choose the cutest one OR if walang cute, yung pinaka-user friendly for my own and give away the rest of the lot.

2. Supplier Apparel

T-shirts and jackets of all shapes and sizes and colors and designs. I have t-shirts I use for going out and just for lounging around at home. These I usually use for at home. But if I do have a considerable number of pambahay shirts, I’d rather give the others away. Especially to the manong guards and our household help. I already have my own jackets which fit my overall style so I don’t need more. I only keep at least one in the office for the cold days and nights during the -ber and the rainy season. But why do you need 5 new jackets anyway?

3. Planners

Again, I also buy my own planner, which is my Belle de Jour Planner. So all other planners I really just give away. I only need one anyway.

4. Notebooks

I get an average of 5 notebooks in a single Christmas (of all colors, shapes and sizes again…), but I only get to consume only 1 notebook in a span of a year. So I usually give the notebooks to my siblings who are still in school for use in the next school year.

5. Gift Certificates

Of course, I have my fair share of fave stores including: SM (They’ve got it all!), Landmark (sulit na sulit), Rustan’s (pwedeng pang grocery pa din), and Bench (which has the best underwear). Some other stores are just okay for me. In short, kelangan ko pa din magdagdag para makabili ng something of use. So I just give these GCs away to people whose styles fit the store. For the bigger GCs, I usually give these to my siblings Hehehe! Tipid sa gift! Wala ako ginastos

6. Excess food items

Hindi naman ako mashado gahaman (i.e. greedy) to keep all the grocery goods I get. Although, pwede naman silang pambaon ng mga kapatid ko. If I get 2 Christmas Hams, I give the other one to our household help. Christmas Basket showcase ba? Yuh!

7. Beauty products

Of course, hindi ako ma-make up na tao. Well, I have some basics but I’d like to finish them all before trying out other products. Sayang kc. So I share the kikay love with kikay friends and family Sa akin na lang yung mga sabon at shampoo at lotion. Pwede gamitin sa araw-araw. Hehehehe!

8. Figurines

Naman! Wala lang talaga akong hilig. I guess it comes with the fact that I still don’t have my own house. Deadma na sa mga angel kuning at kung ano ano pang figurine. Hehehe. Ibibigay ko na lang sa mga Tita ko. Hehehehe!

9. Picture frames

Siguro dahil madigital na in this day and age. Nawalan na ng saysay ang picture frames. I actually only have only 1 picture frame in my room at ayoko na ata dagdagan. Hehehe. Give away na sa mga Tita, Tito ang mga picture frames

10. Key chains

Naman! Parang ayoko na lang mag expound kung bakit ini-rerecycle ang key chains. Baw.
