    Rewards! Rewards! Rewards!

    Rewards! Rewards! Rewards!

This morning, the mailman personally handed me an envelope (as I was coincidentally in the garage when he arrived), which I automatically thought was another payable because I recognized the HSBC-ness of the envelope. To my very pleasant surprise, it was the pick-up vouchers for my SM and Rustan’s gift certificates from my HSBC credit card points :-) YEHEY!

How did I manage to jack up the credit card points? Here’s how…

Charge all possible transactions using your credit card

I used to pay my phone bills, educational plan (for my little sister), pension plan and mutual funds over the counter. Then earlier this year I just wanted to streamline all payments at the same time earn points. And so I did. I filled up the necessary forms for the bills and Voila! charge away :-) My credit card points ballooned na :-)

Wait until the end of the year to collect all possible points

This is a test of patience. It was exciting though to see how your rewards points increase with each swipe. Hihihi. I think if I remember correctly I was able to collect around 40,000 points or so. Well, if I’d known this even earlier I could have earned more.

Treat one time transactions like cash (so you don’t end up in debt!)

I am really afraid of getting into credit card debt and avoid it like a plague. So every time I use my credit card to rack up some points when doing the grocery, when eating out with friends (you can shoulder the bill while they pay their share in cash), when in the bookstore, etc, etc. BUT I do make sure I pay HSBC the very next day or within the week so I don’t forget about the swipes I made.

Hay. Sarap ng rewards. I am excited to pick up my GCs by the end of this week. I am reserving them for toiletry shopping or maybe I could buy myself a new pair of shoes. Hmmm I’d have to add a bit more pero keri na. AHLAVET!

Nagamit mo na ba credit card points mo from 2009?
