The mess slowly piling up as a result of tamad-itis

I’ve been bitten by the tamad-itis this week especially on posting. But today, I told myself, I will definitely go and post. Not put it off for another week. As you can see, the mess is definitely piling up.

As for my SSS, I definitely did not wait any longer and filed my voluntary contriutions last week. I learned 7-steps sometime last year, but then I learned something more. This I would like to share with you…

Prepare your SSS forms before hand

I assumed that all SSS payment centers had the forms available. So I assumed wrong. I’ve jumped from bank to bank to bank: Metrobank, PS Bank, BPI, BDO; and found no form. I had to print them out or just scoot over to the SSS office to get myself a gazillion copies.

Being the kuripot person that I am, of course, I definitely did not want to spend for printing out the form. So I just decided to scoot over to the nearest SSS office. I am just glad we have two near our place.

Calling SSS: Sana naman po bigyan ninyo din ng forms ang banks. For convenience purposes. Thank you.

Not all banks accept “late” payments

I was not late for my payment as all payments should me made on or before the 20th of the succeeding month. So since I was paying for October to December of 2009, the deadline is on January 20th. Therefore, technically, I am not making a late payment.

BUT some banks (like PS Bank), do not accept “late” payments. Meaning they only accept advanced payments for the succeeding months-quarter. So if I were to pay for January to March 2010, I need to pay before January 20th. That is if I would be paying at the bank.

So I hollered for the assistance of my good blogging friend from Pinoy Gov and asked her where is the best payment center for my SSS contributions.

Best payment centers include the SSS office near you or the Bayad Centers near you

Apparently these are the best payment centers.

Go to the SSS office IF AND ONLY IF:

  1. You have an SSS office very near you.
  2. You can brave the lines. Well, lines for voluntary contributions were not as bad
  3. You are in need of forms. I just wish they could give out an number of them instead of just 3 sets.

Bayad Centers are located in your favorite malls, so not much out of the way. Just make sure you already have your forms with you.

At the end of my SSS errand day, how I wished that the government would just make things easy for all of us. Then again, that would be the day. I hope I’d be alive when that happens.

Do you have any more SSS tips to share?

  2. Hi Hannah!

From what I know, You can settle late payments with SSS office. They have corresponding penalties for late payments. I think better ask SSS AGAIN.

Mejo hassle lang as government people can sometimes be malabo. di ba? Howell. It’s something we have to deal with…not by choice. Hehehe

    Hi,

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, very informative. I just have a question though, does SSS allow voluntary contribution select the lowest amount from it’s schedule of contribution? If in case i opt to choose a higher amount in the future, can i do that? thanks.

  4. Based on what I’ve read (while I was in line at the SSS office) you can choose to do so. there is a part in the form where you will be declaring your change in income bracket and the corresponding contribution. So I do think it is very possible :)

i thought the deadline is on or before the 10th of the month? naiba na ba? or mali lang talga ako?

sinabi mo…tapos paghihingi ka sa SSS, kaunti lang bigay sa iyo. Ayaw damihan…as if naman magagamit natin sa iba ung form hehehe ang nipis nipis ng papel :)

  6. on or before the 20th of the month ;)

    Hello

I had been a SSS member during my employment in the year 1986. I wish to continue my contributions as a voluntary member. I would like to know if a voluntary member is also entitled to an old age pension.

    Thank you….

  8. @ Unis: I’m not sure about that. But I would refer you to http://pinoygov.com for that query of yours. She might be able to help you :)

Hi Juana. I am a voluntary member of SSS. I would like to know if certificate of last employment is necessary when I apply for retirement. I resigned from my last employer 29 years ago. What are the conditions if any that a certificate is not required or necessary?

  12. Manilyn says:

Hi Juana. I am a voluntary member of SSS. I missed to pay May & June monthly contributions. Does SSS still accept late contributions for voluntary and self-employed members?

  13. chel says:

What is the difference between a voluntary member and a self employed member? Will a voluntary member qualify for a retirement pension because my status was changed from self employed to Voluntary member?
